The 3D effect
The lamp uses a laser-engraved acrylic panel that glows from a base-mounted LED strip. The engraved mushroom design appears to float inside the clear panel when lit. This looks much more interesting in person than in product photos. Kids love watching the color cycle through modes.
The effect works best in a dark room. In a bright room, the acrylic panel just looks like a clear plastic sheet with scratches. At night, the 3D glow is the standout feature.
Safety for kids
USB powered means low voltage. The LED base stays cool after 30 minutes of use. No sharp edges on the acrylic panel. The base is wide enough that it does not tip easily. We rate it safe for ages 3 and up. Do not let young children handle the USB cable unsupervised.
Short cord: the main downside
The 3-foot USB cord is the biggest limitation. For a bedroom nightstand near an outlet, it works. For a shelf or desk away from a power source, you need a USB extension or a power bank. A 5-foot cord would make this lamp much more versatile.
